Lavene Counselling in Penticton

ABOUT ME

I have been a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC) with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA) since October 2013. Running my private practice over the years has only increased my love for working with clients while sharing tools that make the tough times easier. I strive to develop a trusting and confident relationship with each client based on honesty and dedication. My goal is to give every client the courage to dig in and promote change in the areas they want to see change, whether it be in their mental, emotional, social, spiritual, or physical self.

In September 2000, I made a big decision to change my life for the better. I attended a 12-step program and have been successfully sober ever since. The journey has not always been easy, but every challenge is worth it. This journey brought me to self-discovery of finding my passion for counselling. Starting with specializing in substance use counselling, I expanded my training and passion to several areas of counselling including anxiety, depression, family, grief and loss, and spiritual and life coaching. I am passionate about sharing the endless possibilities in this life and love being a part of my client’s success stories. I am blessed with two amazing adult children, their partners, and their growing families. Family is very important to me. I understand we all don’t have a big family or a healthy family, so I learned along the way that family is the ones you choose to be in your life. I suffered the great loss of my parents and a sibling in my early adult years. This experience has truly given me empathy for those who have lost loved ones. Along my journey, I forged deep connections with friends and believe that quality relationships are valued over quantity.

Animals have a huge part of my heart. I have seven pets (two dogs and five cats) and believe that they have magical healing powers of their own. Their unconditional love, patience, and kindness is a gift that I try to project back into the world. I love to horseback ride when I can, learning from them intuitively every time. It is truly amazing what the animals in my life have taught me.

Nature is also a large part of my healing journey. Earthing, grounding in nature and just truly appreciating the beautiful province we live in is a healthy choice for our mental health. Hiking, walking and swimming with the dogs is a must for me, several times a week. The outdoors is our spiritual healer. No matter what spiritual or religious belief system you have, nature is the powerful gift that we can all equally enjoy and cherish. I will say, I am an open book. Please feel free to ask me about how my personal experiences have influenced my journey of wellness and I promise to help you find that beautiful path for you! I truly look forward to working with you.
